With outdoor watering restricted and an ongoing severe drought, Caron and Scott Campbell of Moorpark are replacing much of their backyard lawn with a drought-tolerant landscape. Their contractor, David Snow Garden Design, began the job last week. Last week, on his nationally televised "Last Week Tonight" show, the comedian John Oliver criticized a local response to drought in California. Oliver's diatribe, viewed on YouTube over 2,760,000 times as of last Tuesday, called the suggestion of towing an iceberg to the Ventura harbor 'monumentally stupid' and an example of how Americans living in arid regions have not appropriately planned for water shortages.
