A man's death on southbound Highway 101 near Faria Beach late Wednesday morning is being investigated as a possible suicide, California Highway Patrol officials said. The incident closed one of two lanes for a time, backing up southbound traffic. At around 11:20 a.m., callers had reported a possibly suicidal subject on the Padre Juan Canyon Road bridge, CHP officials said in a release Wednesday evening. The bridge cuts over the freeway near the curve by Faria Beach. When CHP officers and Ventura County Fire Department crews arrived, an "elderly" man was found face down in the left fast lane and pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
